Rafif Mahsa Baihaqi, a Trisakti School of Management student from the class of 2025, achieved outstanding national-level achievement in the prestigious Indonesia Stock Trading Competition (ISTC) 2025, held by the University of Indonesia from September 11 to November 29, 2025. Rafif competed individually and won first place among hundreds of other participants from various universities and schools across Indonesia.
Themed “Resilient Investing: Thriving Amidst Uncertainty,” ISTC 2025 emphasized mental resilience, strategic maturity, and the ability to manage emotions in the face of stock market dynamics. Participants were tested on their ability to trade stocks in real time using virtual capital, focusing on market analysis, investment decision-making, and risk management. For Rafif, this was a valuable opportunity to test the investment strategies he had developed, network, and apply the capital market theory he had learned.
Rafif prepared meticulously for this competition, from backtesting trading strategies, selecting potential stocks, keeping a trading journal, and monitoring global economic developments. Throughout the competition, he implemented a combined approach of fundamental and technical analysis, along with strict discipline regarding risk management and emotional control. Rafif’s biggest challenge was maintaining consistency and avoiding impulsive decisions, but he overcame this by regularly evaluating his trading journal, which kept him on track with his plan.
According to Rafif, the factors that contributed to his success were discipline, patience in waiting for the best opportunity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning. He hopes this victory will be the first step toward building a career in the capital markets, including obtaining professional certification and strengthening his investment portfolio. This success also proves that TSM students are capable of competing nationally and serves as an inspiration for the next generation to continue honing their skills and challenge themselves to compete at a higher level.
