STUDYING WHILE WORKING?

Trisakti School of Management has long been known as a traditional champion campus engaged in the field of economics. Over the course of its 45-year history, Trisakti School of Management has produced thousands of graduates who are trusted to compete internationally. In addition to being a place to earn a bachelor's degree, Trisakti School of Management also offers various job opportunities in several departments that require or are often referred to as “Assistance” programs. This program provides Trisakti School of Management students with the opportunity to gain work experience during their studies. To find out more about the Assistance program, let's take a look at some interviews with students who have participated in the program.

Abraham James, a fourth-semester student who joined as a Public Relations assistant in 2019. Currently, James is assigned to the front office, negotiations, and documentation. “We usually negotiate with several high schools for full scholarship programs, TSM Friendship Scholarships (BST), campus presentations, and Edufair activities,” explained James.

Beyond his routine duties, as a public relations assistant, he is also involved in campus events, such as major competitions in the Jakarta metropolitan area. When these events are held, public relations assistants are divided into several teams for sponsorship and competition coordination.

“For Trisakti School of Management students, don’t forget to keep an eye on Trisakti School of Management’s Instagram (@tsm_trisakti) for more information about the opening of new assistants,” he added.

Cynthia Juliani,

an 8th semester student who works as a Student Affairs Assistant (BAMA) for the Design division.

“After joining as a BAMA assistant, I gained a better understanding of campus administration. Additionally, I gained a new perspective, got to know more Trisakti School of Management lecturers and staff, and found it easier to obtain information about scholarships at Trisakti School of Management,” she explained.

Since she is involved in the design division, her work naturally involves design-related tasks such as designing posters for Trisakti School of Management events, designing the layout for Trisakti School of Management television, and several other tasks.

Janet Jesslyn is currently in her sixth semester and has just joined as a teaching assistant for the 2020 academic year.

“If you want to try to become a teaching assistant, just give it a shot. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes in teaching or not being able to teach, because there is a process involved. Additionally, before becoming a teaching assistant, you will first have to pass a test. If you fail, don’t give up and try again. Being a teaching assistant itself adds value to your job search and improves your communication skills, which will boost your confidence. These communication skills can also be used as preparation for your thesis defense. So just give it a try; there’s nothing to lose!” she explained.

Dinda Ramadhanty Dahlan

“When I joined as a library assistant, I got to know the TSM staff a little better and became acquainted with several lecturers,” she explained.

There are several jobs that are not widely known among students. The first job is known as “circulation,” where the task is to scan the barcodes of books for borrowing and returning. The second job is “shelving,” which involves rearranging books that have been read or returned to their respective shelves. The third job is “Stock Opname,” where library assistants count and scan the books in the library, update the available quantities, and place them on the designated shelves. “Sometimes, if the books are very messy, we do a mini Stock Opname, which is tidying up the collections in the library,” he added.

“Through this assistant role, you can experience a small simulation before entering the workforce, where in the real world you will encounter supervisors or colleagues at different levels, although the primary goal is teamwork,” he added.

Bella Audrey, a sixth-semester student, joined as an assistant at the Global Relations Office (GRO). The Global Relations Office oversees the university’s international relations, so her work involves handling memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and other matters related to international cooperation.

“It can be tiring, but it’s more fun. Because we work as a team, not individually, there is always backup. In addition, we are never pushed to be perfect in our work and we are also guided,” she explained.
