As part of their commitment to expanding international networks and creating greater global opportunities for students and faculty members, Trisakti School of Management and the University of Sheffield held a meeting on June 8, 2026, at the TSM campus. The meeting reflected the strong commitment of both institutions to exploring various forms of academic collaboration that could be developed in the future, ranging from academic exchanges to research partnerships.

The event began with opening remarks delivered by Mr. Aulia, followed by a presentation by Dr. Malcolm Butler, who introduced the University of Sheffield and highlighted the institution’s key strengths. During his presentation, Dr. Butler explained that the University of Sheffield is consistently ranked among the world’s top 100 universities and is widely recognized for its excellence in both teaching and research. Located in the city of Sheffield, England, the university has established a strong reputation within the global higher education community.

Dr. Butler also highlighted several of the university’s leading research areas, including Supply Chain Management, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Improving Working Lives, and Climate Change. These activities are guided by three strategic themes, known as the university’s “Golden Threads”: The Future of Cities, Healthcare, and Work and Business.

In addition to presenting the university’s academic strengths, Dr. Butler introduced several of Sheffield’s learning facilities, including the Bloomberg Trading Room, Virtual Reality Laboratory, and AI-focused learning modules. Participants were also introduced to a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in accounting, finance, management, marketing, human resource management, business analytics, and supply chain management.

During the session, Professor Shuxing Yin also shared information regarding international academic exchange opportunities and overseas study programs that could serve as potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions.

Representing TSM, Mrs. Astrid delivered a presentation on the institution’s profile, academic programs, campus facilities, International Class (IC), partnerships with international universities, student exchange initiatives, and research collaboration activities. The presentation provided an overview of TSM’s commitment to internationalization and the development of globally oriented learning experiences.

The discussion and Q&A session focused on various collaboration opportunities that could be developed in the future. The University of Sheffield introduced several partnership schemes, including student mobility programs, study abroad opportunities, joint research initiatives, doctoral pathways, and other forms of academic collaboration. Sheffield representatives also shared that the university actively recruits students from Indonesia and has established partnerships with several Indonesian universities through programs such as the 4+1 pathway, 1+1 master’s programs, and short-term summer programs.

As a follow-up to the meeting, both institutions expressed strong interest in expanding future collaborations. Potential areas of cooperation include joint research focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), student exchange programs, summer programs, lecturer development initiatives, as well as the exploration of dual-degree opportunities and a potential 2+2 program.

Through this meeting, Trisakti School of Management and the University of Sheffield reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening international academic cooperation through student mobility, academic exchanges, research collaborations, and the development of innovative programs. It is hoped that this collaboration will make a meaningful contribution to strengthening higher education partnerships on the global stage while creating broader opportunities for students, faculty members, and both institutions in the years ahead.
