Surabaya, April 2026 – The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to reshape the accounting profession, requiring future accountants to possess not only strong technical expertise but also the ability to develop innovative and sustainable solutions. Demonstrating these competencies, students of Trisakti School of Management (TSM) delivered an outstanding performance at Accounting Fun Week (AFW) 2026, organized by Widya Mandala Surabaya Catholic University from March 24 to April 18, 2026. In the competition, three TSM teams earned top honors, showcasing exceptional academic excellence, creativity, and teamwork on the national stage.
The achievements were led by Team Vortex, which secured First Place, consisting of I Nyoman Wirananda Tejaguna (Alumnus of Sang Timur Catholic Senior High School), Theodora Frizca Tantio (Alumna of SMAN 1 Sungai Liat), and Jagrajdep Singh (Alumnus of Mutiara 17 Agustus Senior High School). Team Trademark earned Third Place, represented by Aldryan Leonardo (Alumnus of SMAN 1 Koba), Chastine Claresta Hanoso (Alumna of Methodist 2 Medan Senior High School), and Justin Angwyn (Alumnus of Budi Agung Senior High School). Meanwhile, Team ActCountThink received the Second Runner-up Award, with members Handy Brilliant (Alumnus of Immanuel Christian Vocational High School Pontianak), Steven (Alumnus of Yos Sudarso Senior High School Batam), and Kezia Grace Nathaniel (Alumna of KPS Senior High School Bogor).
Carrying the theme “Sweet Accounting Battle: Colorful Journey with AI for Sustainable Tomorrow!”, the competition encouraged participants to integrate AI into accounting solutions that support sustainable development. A total of 20 teams from universities across Indonesia participated in the event. During the preliminary round, each team was required to submit an essay and a campaign video based on the theme “AI-Driven Transformation for Sustainability”, focusing on one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 12 best teams advanced to the semifinal and final rounds, which featured a series of rally games designed to assess participants’ analytical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
In preparation for the competition, all three TSM teams underwent extensive preparation by holding regular team discussions, strengthening their understanding of the competition materials, and consulting with faculty advisors from Trisakti School of Management. In addition, each team developed strategies tailored to the competition format to ensure their best performance throughout every stage of the event.
One of Team Vortex’s members, I Nyoman Wirananda Tejaguna, shared that the team’s success was largely attributed to their strong collaboration throughout the competition. “This achievement is the result of solid teamwork. We are also grateful that every stage of the competition went smoothly, allowing us to bring home the championship,” he said.
This achievement reflects TSM students’ ability not only to excel in accounting but also to adapt to technological advancements and sustainability issues that continue to shape today’s professional landscape. Trisakti School of Management remains committed to empowering its students to innovate, pursue excellence in academic competitions, and develop the competencies needed to compete successfully at both the national and international levels.
