The ability to analyze fiscal policy and taxation has become an increasingly essential competency amid economic transformation and the digitalization of Indonesia’s tax system. This competency was demonstrated by students of Trisakti School of Management (TSM), who secured 2nd place at the Accounting Student Conference (KMA) organized by Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, held from March 24 to April 10, 2026.
The achievement was earned by Team Trademark, consisting of Aldryan Leonardo (alumnus of SMAN 1 Koba), Chastine Claresta Hanoso (alumna of SMA 2 Methodist Medan), and Justin Angwyn (alumnus of SMA Budi Agung). Carrying the theme “Fiscal Transformation in a New Government Era: Strengthening Indonesia’s Tax Efficiency and Economic Resilience,” the competition challenged participants to produce academic papers addressing fiscal transformation, tax reform, tax digitalization through CoreTax, and the strengthening of Indonesia’s economic resilience.
The competition was highly competitive. All participants were required to submit papers analyzing issues related to taxation and fiscal policy in Indonesia. From all submissions, only six teams with the best academic papers advanced to the conference stage, where they presented their research, engaged in discussions with other participants, and defended their arguments before a panel of judges. The assessment covered multiple aspects, including the quality of the paper, the depth of analysis, and participants’ ability to communicate their ideas systematically.
To face these challenges, Team Trademark implemented a structured strategy by dividing responsibilities according to each member’s strengths, ranging from data collection, fiscal policy analysis, paper writing, to presentation preparation. In addition to conducting research using various credible sources, the team also held regular discussions and practice sessions to ensure that every argument presented was supported by valid data and could be convincingly defended before the judges.
Aldryan Leonardo stated that the team’s success was not only determined by the quality of their academic work, but also by their strong teamwork throughout the preparation process. “The main factors that led us to this achievement were the strength of our data-driven analysis, solid teamwork, and our ability to communicate ideas clearly and persuasively,” he said.
Through this competition, Team Trademark gained valuable experience in deepening their understanding of fiscal policy and taxation, while also sharpening their research, critical thinking, and academic communication skills. This achievement further reinforces Trisakti School of Management’s commitment to producing graduates who are excellent, adaptable to industry developments, and capable of making meaningful contributions through academic achievements at both national and international levels.
