Jakarta, July 2026 – The sustainability of coastal ecosystems plays a vital role in maintaining environmental balance while supporting sustainable development. Demonstrating its commitment to environmental conservation, Trisakti School of Management (TSM) participated in International Mangrove Day 2026, organized by STMA Trisakti in collaboration with the Trisakti Foundation. Carrying the theme “Strong Roots, Strong Generation, Brighter Future,”the event served as a collaborative platform that brought together stakeholders from various sectors to strengthen conservation efforts and promote the sustainable management of natural resources.
The event’s main agenda included the planting of 3,250 mangrove seedlings in the Angke Kapuk Protected Forest, North Jakarta, involving lecturers, students, staff members, and partners from the insurance industry. Other activities included the presentation of awards to individuals and organizations for their contributions to coastal conservation, the symbolic handover of mangrove seedlings by sponsors, and the presentation of appreciation certificates to sponsoring companies.
Mangroves play a strategic role as natural coastal barriers, helping to reduce the risks of coastal erosion, tidal flooding, storm surges, and the impacts of climate change. Besides providing habitats for diverse marine life and serving as effective carbon sinks, mangrove ecosystems also create economic opportunities for local communities through sustainable fisheries, ecotourism, mangrove-based products, and blue carbon trading. Now in its eighth year, International Mangrove Day has consistently promoted the rehabilitation of Indonesia’s coastal ecosystems through collaboration among various stakeholders. Since it was first held in 2016, the programme has facilitated the planting of thousands of mangrove seedlings across coastal areas while strengthening partnerships in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

TSM’s participation in International Mangrove Day 2026 reflects the institution’s commitment to supporting initiatives that generate positive impacts for both the environment and society. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, TSM hopes to contribute to the continued conservation of mangrove ecosystems while advancing sustainable development for present and future generations.
