Trisakti School of Management further strengthened its academic collaboration network through the presence of Dr. Iskandar Itan, Rector of the International University of Batam, as a guest lecturer at an event organized by Trisakti School of Management (TSM) on Tuesday, 18 November 2025. On this occasion, Dr. Iskandar was invited as the keynote speaker to deliver a session on the topic “Family Governance and Ethical Tax Practices.”
The event, held in the Studio Room on the 2nd floor of the TSM campus, was attended by approximately 200 participants, consisting of lecturers and students. This Guest Lecture is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen long-term cooperation between UIB and TSM in the areas of education, knowledge exchange, and inter-institutional academic development.
In his presentation, Dr. Iskandar discussed how family governance plays a role in shaping values, integrity, and ethical tax practices within family-owned businesses. He emphasized that “good governance begins with good values,” meaning that the management of family businesses is expected not only to grow financially, but also to uphold ethical, transparent, and sustainable tax practices.
Various research findings presented showed that strong corporate governance contributes significantly to more ethical tax practices, while family ownership itself does not automatically determine the level of tax compliance. Through an interactive delivery style, Dr. Iskandar also explained the differences between the roles of family CEOs and non-family CEOs in influencing corporate tax behavior.
The event became even more engaging with an active discussion and Q&A session, followed by a plaque exchange as a symbol of the collaborative commitment between the two institutions.
Through this activity, UIB and Trisakti School of Management reaffirm their shared commitment to providing relevant learning experiences, broadening students’ perspectives, and enhancing the quality of education through sustainable academic collaboration.
